The J.A. Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport is approximately a 20 minute drive from the Sydney downtown business district and is a short driving distance to other parts of Cape Breton Island. There are two asphalt runways: Runway 06/24 - 7070' x 200’ with an Instrument Landing System (ILS) and Non-precision Runway 18/36 – 6000' x 150'.
